former post office Ostend

contemplates the former use of this large room
and looks forward to the transition from post office to cultural centre
(The cultural centre opened in 2012). Under the floorboards network
cables become visible and at the same time the original floor of this
beautiful building by Belgian architect Gaston Eyselinck appears. So,
the installation confronts the original architecture, the adaptation as
ICT-room and the cultural future of the building. Floorboards are
removed partially and are used to build towers that refer to both
modernist architecture and server racks. A strange kind of 'garden'
with raised volumes and ponds is the result. Two walks through the
installation have been recorded.
